Tuition and Fees

The MFA in Writing program is a 60-hour degree. We operate on a semester basis with time off between the end of the spring term and the Summer Residency.

Tuition is currently $531 per credit hour.

Total costs for your MFA are calculated based on 15 credit hours per semester.

Enrichment Study

Enrichment courses are for non-degree seeking students, but the seminar credit hours may be transferable to the UNO MFA in Writing program’s full 60-hour degree. Please note that enrichment students will be responsible for full tuition and fees and are not eligible for Federal Financial Aid through student loans.

Tuition and fees are calculated based on two credit hours for the Enrichment residency and six credit hours for the Enrichment seminar, and the current meals & lodging fee applies. Tuition is currently $531 per credit hour. Learn more about Enrichment Study.


Residency Meals & Lodging

July 2025 and December 2025-January 2026 Residencies

The 10-day Residencies are held at the Lied Lodge & Conference Center in Nebraska City. Featuring Adirondack-style timbers and stonework, this retreat is set in the middle of a 260-acre wooded park. Roommate reservations (double occupancy) are only available by mutual arrangement on the part of both participants.

Unless a request is submitted to the MFA Office 90 days before the beginning of residency, a single room is reserved.

$2,087.75 Lunch/Dinner (breakfast is self-pay)

Double Occupancy

$1,511.75 Lunch/Dinner (breakfast is self-pay)

Deposit

Upon acceptance, a $500 non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your place in the program; payment arrangements can be made. This deposit will be credited directly to your University bill.

All Tuition and Fees are subject to change by the Board of Regents. Rates are typically updated each July.
