Wear Black, Give Back – UNO’s annual 24 hours of giving – returns on October 8 & 9. This year, the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) has six new giving challenges available for donors seeking to maximize their giving, as well as 25+ causes.

Giving challenges incentivize donors to come together to support joint causes across the college. Every donation over $5 counts towards the challenge, but if you’re inclined to donate more, you could be the recipient of sweet swag like this knit UNO hat.

Check out the challenges below – and know that your donations are much appreciated by our Mavericks!

  • A&S - $10,000 for 250 donors - If 250 people give $5 or more to causes in the College of Arts and Sciences during Wear Black, Give Back, an anonymous donor will give $10,000 to support the college and its students!
  • A&S Open Educational Resources (OER) - $10,000 for 30 donors - If 30 people give to support the UNO Arts and Sciences Open Education Resources (OER) program to provide access to textbooks and other educational materials, an anonymous donor will give a bonus $10,000 to support this critical program!
  • A&S Staff Fund for Excellence - $1,000 for 25 donors - If 25 people give $5 or more to support The A&S Staff Fund for Excellence during Wear Black, Give Back, then Dean Melanie Bloom will give a bonus $1,000 to support staff in the college!
  • Geography - $500 for 10 donors - If 10 people give $5 or more to support the UNO Geography Department during Wear Black, Give Back, Rex Cammack ('89) will unlock an additional $500 for this fund!
  • Geology - $500 for 10 donors - If 10 people give $5 or more to support the UNO Geology Department during Wear Black, Give Back, Rex Cammack ('89) will unlock an additional $500 for this fund!
  • Math - $20,000 for 35 donors - If 35 people give $5 or more to the UNO Department of Mathematics during Wear Black, Give Back, then Kirby Bohling ('99) will give a $20,000 gift to support the department and its students.

Did you know? Last year, Wear Black, Give Back donations bolstered the creation of new cohort scholarship programs, student organization mini grants, and new financial supports for our students. This year, you have the opportunity to be a part of that impact!

Beyond donating, you can also show your support for the cause by spreading the good word about UNO within your community. Post a graphic on social media and use the hashtag #WearBlackGiveBack to join the social movement. Or, if you have a furry friend in your life, paw-ticipate in Woof Black, Meow Back. You can also choose to be a Champion for a cause, sharing with your close friends and family about the importance of your favorite funds.

Thank you for your support of the College of Arts and Sciences!
