Katherine is a Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner. She received her Master of Science degree in Community Counseling from UNO in 2010 and joined the UNO CAPS professional staff in 2012 where she has been the main liaison to both the Office of Military and Veteran Services (OMVS) as well as Accessibility Services Center (ASC). She has taught courses on mental health and stress management for the Public Health and Health Education departments, respectively. Katherine currently serves as Interim Associate Director of the UNMC CAPS office.
Along with the entire CAPS staff, Katherine creates a safe space for counseling with special attention to multicultural considerations. She provides trauma-informed, mental health therapy for individuals and couples as well as outreach, referral assistance, and wellness education. She frequently presents on such topics as Healthy Relationships, Mindfulness and Stress, and University Gatekeeper Suicide Prevention. In 2013, Katherine spearheaded the opening of the Maverick Food Pantry, a resource available to both UNO and UNMC students.
In her free time, Katherine enjoys time with family, friends and pets; campfires; reading; and travel.
