Standing Committees

Per our bylaws, standing committees are comprised of SAC members and are appointed annually. Standing committee meetings are limited to committee members and their respective Executive Committee liaisons, unless other SAC members or individuals are invited. Each committee is responsible for producing a budget proposal to be approved by the SAC membership for all activities and establishing annual goals to be approved by the Council.

Staff Advisory Council (SAC) committees are smaller working groups within the council that focus on specific areas like strategic planning, staff involvement, and community engagement. They help SAC fulfill its mission more effectively.

All elected SAC members are encouraged to serve on at least one Standing Committee. Additionally, staff members who are not elected SAC representatives are welcome to participate in Ad Hoc Committees, depending on the committee's needs and objectives. If an Ad Hoc Committee doesn't yet exist, it should be recommended to the SAC President via unosac@unomaha.edu.

Currently, there are five (5) active Standing Committees:

  • Executive Committee - Composed of SAC members elected by the council to lead the organization
  • Events Committee - Plans events and supports initiatives to enhance staff invovlement and morale
  • Strategic Planning Committee - Researches, reviews, and recommends opportunities to support and guide the University
  • Professional Development Committee - Promotes growth and learning opportunities for staff members
  • Community Engagement Committee - Organizes community service and service learning activities to foster relationships between staff and the Greater Omaha community

As the intention of Ad Hoc committees eb and flow based on institutional and staff need, their presence is more fluid. You can find the current Ad Hoc Committees here.

The Executive Committee meets the fourth Tuesday of each month. You can find the dates and times for when the Executive Committee meets on the Upcoming Meetings and Agendas page.

All other Standing Committees and Ad Hoc Committees met at a freqency that is most appropriate for their areas. Please email unosac@unomaha.edu to learn more.
