The Events Committee of UNO’s Staff Advisory Council fosters staff connection, well-being, and appreciation through inclusive events. By organizing meaningful programming and celebrations, the committee builds community and strengthens staff engagement across campus.

Mission

Strengthen Maverick spirit and campus connections through engaging and encouraging as many staff members as possible through meaningful, quality events and giveaways​

Objectives

Through thoughtful programming and planning, we aim to provide opportunities for networking, celebration, and personal growth, enriching the experience of all staff members.

Long-term Goals

  1. Develop Annual Event Calendar: Expand the range of events offered by the committee to cater to diverse interests and preferences among staff members, including social gatherings, professional networking events, wellness activities, cultural celebrations, and volunteer opportunities.
    1. i.e. H&K (Health & Kinesiology) Activity Day for all staff, partnerships with Aksarben, etc.
  2. Collaboration and Partnerships: Create partnerships with internal departments, external organizations, and community groups to co-host events, leverage resources, and expand the reach and impact of the committee's programming.
    1. Continuously improve the quality of events by soliciting feedback from attendees, incorporating suggestions for improvement to elevate the overall experience for participants.
  3. Professional Development Opportunities: Provide staff members with opportunities for personal and professional development, such as workshops, guest speaker presentations, and panel discussions on relevant topics.
    1. Incorporate educational and skill-building components into events.
    2. Collaborate with Professional Development Committee to expand opportunities.
  4. Cultivate a Culture of Appreciation: Recognize and celebrate staff contributions and achievements through a unique and rewarding program to foster a campus of gratitude and mutual respect for all.

Yearly Expectations

  • Identify SMART Goals for upcoming council year to support long-term goals.
  • Identify tasks and set timelines for accomplishing council year goals.
  • Set annual event calendar before Fall Semester starting with UNO Events Team and Campus Event Calendar.
  • Collaborate with the Office of Strategic Marketing and Communication on Communication Plans for large semester events.
  • Review annual Awards & Recognition Event for enhancements.
  • Explore opportunities for casual, low-cost staff events – on or off campus. Could be connected to First-Fridays.
