Competency-Based Education

Building the Foundation for Workforce Readiness

The Competencies, Skills, and Workforce Development Hub is actively collaborating with stakeholders across UNO to design and scale competency-based education (CBE). Since 2022, the hub has identified areas where CBE strategies are already in use and where they can be expanded to meet workforce demands. Moving forward, the hub will lead the creation of a campus-wide CBE framework, develop learning maps to connect competencies to career outcomes, and provide training and resources to faculty for integrating CBE into curricula. These efforts will ensure UNO delivers on providing accessible education to all learners, driving economic development for Omaha and beyond.
