Public Hearing about Amendments to CIST Constitution & Governance Procedures
In compliance with section 1.2 of the NU Board of Regent’s Bylaws, changes to any NU college’s bylaws/governing documents must be vetted at a public hearing for input and feedback.
During Spring 2023 and again in Fall 2023, the faculty of the College of Information Science & Technology proposed amendments to the college constitution and governing procedures document. The series of amendments pertaining to committee renaming were approved by the faculty with 90% of those voting in favor. The amendment of Article I section 4 of the constitution relating to the rules of order to be used to conduct meetings was approved by the faculty with 71% of those voting in favor. Amendments for updating Governance procedure 4 and Article VI to streamline governance changes in the future were approved by faculty with 88% and 93% voting in favor, respectively. These votes were conducted in accordance with Article IV of the constitution and Section 4 of the governance procedures. A public hearing is now needed to finalize these revisions.
