Apply to be a UHOP Scholar

The Urban Health Opportunities (UHOP) Scholarship application information.

UHOP Application Cycle is September 1 - January 17.


1. Apply to UNO

Complete the UNO Application for Undergraduate Admission.


2. Obtain Your NUID and Password

The UHOP Application requires you to input your NUID.

If you do not know what your NUID is, please seek NUID assistance.


3. Submit the UHOP Scholars Application

Please be sure to review the program requirements before completing the application.

To apply click here.

You will need the following materials for your UHOP application:

  • Resume

  • Unofficial or official high school and college transcripts

  • ACT Scores (will also accept ALEKS Placement score)

  • Identify TWO of the following to submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf: high school principal, high school counselor, high school science teacher, college professor, or medical professional.
    • Please share with them our letter of recommendation submission form.

  • An essay no more than 1,200 words responding to the following prompt: "Describe why you wish to be a doctor and how you will help achieve the purpose of the UHOP program."

  • An essay no more than 1,200 words responding to the following prompt: "Describe what you will bring to the healthcare career field of your choice - your values, talents, and life experiences - and how you add to the cultural, multilingual, ethnic, and/or socioeconomic diversity of this clinical profession."
