Community Engagement

Although subject to availability, funds will be awarded up to $3000 per project. The funding recipient must use the funds within one calendar year of the distribution of funds.

Deadlines: Sept 25 (for projects beginning Oct 15 or later), Nov 1 (for projects beginning Dec 1 or later), Feb 1 (for projects beginning Mar 1 or later), April 1 (for projects beginning May 1 or later)

Final Report: due within 30 days after the end of the project.

Note: Funds will not be approved for faculty stipend/salary. This opportunity is for active GCHR faculty only. Funds expire one year after receiving funding approval.

Curriculum Development

Funding for course development, pedagogical conference/workshop participation, and/or organizing a pedagogical conference at UNO, and creating a human rights training program for faculty affiliates.

Deadlines: Applications considered as received (rolling deadlines)

Final Report: due within 30 days after the end of semester course is first taught.

Note: FuThis opportunity is for active GCHR faculty only. Funds expire one year after receiving funding approval.

Research and Creative Activity

Total funding of $3000 is available to partially fund up to two research projects and/or creative activities (e.g. software, field work travel, research assistance, compensation for research participants, performance/exhibition space).

If the project involves human subjects, funds will be released after the applicant has provided proof of IRB approval.

Deadlines: December 1, 2025

Note: Funds will not be approved for conference travel or faculty stipend or salary.This opportunity is for active GCHR faculty only. Funds expire one year after receiving funding approval.

Landscapes of Belonging: Service Learning Project Development Grant

This project is a collaboration with the Goldstein Family Community Chair in Human Rights and UNO Service Learning Academy to support service learning projects that incorporate the refugee communities and/or organizations in Omaha. Successful applicants will receive a $1000 course development stipend.

Note: This opportunity is open to all full or part-time faculty teaching at UNO that attend the Service Learning Seminar. All stipends will be received at the beginning of the semester the course is taught directly to the faculty member.
