Scholarships and Research Funds for Geology Majors

Steven J. White Fund

The Steven J. White Fund is a fund that has been built by the generosity of friends and alumni of the Geology Program. This fund is designed to help support undergraduate research in the geosciences. Majors can apply for support of their research (travel, equipment, analyses, etc.) by submitting a short proposal to their advisor. Proposals can be submitted at any time throughout the year.

Field Camp Scholarships

The Geology Program has funds to help support majors attending an appropriate field camp. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in an approved field course. Amounts are variable depending on the amount of money available and the number of applicants. Please see an advisor for more information. In order to be considered students should let any one of the faculty know in the spring semester as soon as they have been accepted to a field camp.

Yatkola-Edwards Scholarship

The Yatkola-Edwards Grants are awarded to graduate and undergraduate students conducting research on the geology of Nebraska and surrounding areas. It is funded through the Nebraska Geological Society. Typically short proposals are due early spring semester. Please see an advisor for more information.

FUSE Grants

  • The FUSE grant supports faculty-mentored undergraduate student research and creative activity.
  • Grants of up to $4,500 per student are available to UNO undergraduates.
  • Eligibility is restricted to those UNO undergraduate students (and students from other NU programs) who pay their tuition through UNO.

Other Sources

Other external scholarships and funding sources may also be available (e.g. from GSA), and students are encouraged to contact faculty to learn of possibilities.

Donate to Student Scholarships
