What to Expect at Orientation
New student orientation is facilitated online for transfer students. The online orientation is available via the Student Success Community on your Canvas homepage. This mandatory online orientation experience will introduce you to success resources, academic expectations, and campus life at UNO.
Access to the online orientation course will be available at the beginning of April. Once the course is available, students will be provided access within 24-48 hours after registering via their MavLINK account.
Completing the entirety of your new student orientation is the beginning of a successful start at UNO.
How to Register for Orientation
- In MavLINK, click the Undergrad Orientation Signup link. This can be found in the Admissions drop down menu located on the lefthand side of the home page. The orientation registration form will pop-up in a separate window.
- Follow the instructions for registering for the online orientation. Please review your personal information before completing the form.
For support when signing up for orientation, call 402-554-2677 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
After you register for online orientation, make an appointment with an advisor for the academic program you were admitted to. Advising appointments can be scheduled at any time. Attending an advising appointment should occur after online orientation has been completed and your hold for orientation has been lifted.
Bring unofficial copies of transcripts from your previous institutions to your appointment. To schedule an appointment with your advisor, locate the appropriate Academic Advising office and phone number, and give them a call.
The online orientation takes approximately 90 minutes to complete and can be completed in multiple sessions, if necessary. The online orientation is hosted in Canvas and is broken into modules that each have a short, module-specific quiz that must be completed before moving onto the next module. At the end of the online orientation modules, there is a post-orientation, comprehensive quiz. Before you complete this quiz, you will need to review all content again.
Your orientation hold will be removed within one (1) business day of passing the comprehensive quiz.
