General Meetings

Student Government bodies meet regularly throughout the year to accomplish the work of the organization.

The general Student Government meetings take place Thursday nights at 7 P.M. Each week alternates between Circuit (Committee) and Senate meetings.

  • Circuit Meetings: Circuit meetings are casual and primarily involve small-group committee discussions on the progress of special topics and projects.
  • Senate Meetings: Senate meetings are formal and serve to pass resolutions, allocate funding, and appoint students to other Student Government positions. Each meeting has time set aside at the beginning of the meeting for an Open Forum period for members of the public to come and address the body.

If you cannot attend in person, you can watch all Student Government Meetings on our YouTube Live channel.

For more details on upcoming meetings, please see our MavSYNC page.

For information on meeting minutes, resolutions, or other documents, please see our Documents Page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question that isn't answered below? Please feel free to reach out to sgaUNO@unomaha.edu!

While both focus on student representation and leadership, UNO's SGA operates on a much larger scale. At UNO, SGA serves as the official voice of the student body, advocates for student interests, allocates funding, and works directly with university administration. SGA includes three branches that provide representation, oversight, and services to students across campus.

No prior experience is required. SGA welcomes students of all backgrounds and experience levels. Training, onboarding, and mentorship opportunities help new members learn their roles, develop leadership skills, and contribute effectively from the start.

SGA offers a variety of opportunities with different levels of involvement. While each position has specific responsibilities, many roles are designed to accommodate busy student schedules. Whether you are looking for a leadership position, a committee assignment, or a short-term involvement opportunity, there are ways to participate that fit your availability.

Not at all. SGA is open to students from every academic college and major. A large variety of perspectives helps SGA better represent the needs and interests of the entire student body.

Every academic college is represented by at least one senator who serves as an advocate for their peers. Your senators can help answer questions, gather feedback, and bring concerns or ideas forward for discussion and action. See which senators represent you.
