Agencies

About SGA Agencies

SGA agencies play a vital role in enhancing student life by serving as smaller, focused organizations within the broader Student Government structure. They are designed to promote, educate, and serve the various needs of the student body, particularly focusing on student populations that have been historically underrepresented. By advocating for these groups and creating initiatives that address specific interests, these agencies work to improve the campus environment beyond academic settings.

Committees

About SGA Committees

SGA has five standing committees to implement SGA matters into effective actions. Committees ensure that student government fosters community through accountability, transparency, responsibility, independence, and fairness. In addition, committees will have specific purposes, objectives, and tasks to comply with the SGA’s mission, vision, and values.

History

About the History of the SGA

For over a century, student leaders at UNO have shaped campus life and amplified student voices through dedicated governance and advocacy. The origins of SGA at UNO can be traced back to September of 1912 when the President announced that a Student Cabinet would be organized. Initially, a cabinet of 10 members was proposed to collaborate with the faculty as an advisory body. Despite some initial resistance, the cabinet was organized, setting the foundation of student representation on campus.

Student Fees

About SGA and Student Fees

SGA at UNO advises the university on how Fund A revenue should be allocated based on annual budget requests and uses it to cover operating expenses. SGA actively works to keep fees as reasonable as possible to ensure that every dollar a student is paying is being invested in something they can benefit from during the time of their college enrollment.
