Requirements for Applicants

Scholarship Awards

Scott Scholars candidates must be eligible to receive the UNO Regent's Scholarship. To inquire about Regents eligibility, please contact the Office of Financial Support and Scholarships.

In line with current Regents requirements, Scott Scholars applicants must meet the following criteria:
  • US citizens or permanent US residents with current residency in Nebraska
  • Graduating seniors of Nebraska high schools
  • Minimum ACT Composite score of 32 or greater
    • Students taking the "new" version of the ACT must have taken the Science test.

The University of Nebraska System's Presidential Scholarship is also accepted for students who receive a perfect 36 ACT (or SAT 1570-1600).

Students with ACT Composite of 30-31

While students who are eligible for the Regent's or Presidential scholarship are the most competitve applicants, students who score a 30 or 31 on the ACT are still encouraged to apply for the Walter Scott, Jr. Scholarship as other tuition remission scholarship opportunities may become available.


STEM Major

Scott Scholars candidates must plan to enroll in an approved STEM-focused academic program or major.

Many Scott Scholars choose to double major or minor in academic programs outside of STEM.
