Students selected as Scott Scholars will engage in an enriched undergraduate educational experience that integrates both curricular and co-curricular learning.


This challenging program is designed to prepare students with the technical, social, emotional, and problem-solving skills necessary to excel as STEM leaders in their communities and chosen professions.

As a result of participating in the program, students will demonstrate proficient levels of readiness related to the following educational outcome categories:

Career Ready

Scholars develop industry-leading technical skills that prepare them to enter their chosen field as top tier candidates. Students will also be able to translate their many curricular and co-curricular learning experiences into a desirable career portfolio. Specific learning experiences distinct to the Scott Scholars program will include securing valuable internship and research positions in regional and national labs, involvement in community service projects, intentional leadership development opportunities, and ongoing career development and coaching.

Leader Ready

Scholars will develop their individual identities and learn to engage in responsible leadership that inspires others to effect positive change through the accomplishment of common goals.

Community Ready

Scholars will learn about civic engagement and develop active citizenship skills through participation in various community-based projects and ongoing commitments.

Learner Ready

Scholars will be excellent critical and creative thinkers that are able to integrate and use knowledge and skills from a variety of disciplines to generate new ideas and solve problems. This includes a commitment to whole life learning and being open to new experiences and opportunities for continued growth.

Person Ready

Scholars will be adept at self-reflection and able to articulate and leverage specific strengths, skills, and competencies. This includes understanding one’s values and beliefs within the context of complex social situations.
