METGreen Solutions Delivers Mission-Driven IT Support for Federal Agencies

For Brian Moore, founding METGreen Solutions was about more than starting a business—it was about building a company rooted in service, integrity and accountability.

Norfolk – For Brian Moore, founding METGreen Solutions was about more than starting a business—it was about building a company rooted in service, integrity and accountability.

“I had worked for several different companies supporting the federal government,” Moore says. “I took something from each of them — both the good and the bad — and realized that if I really wanted to do the things I felt capable of doing, I needed to create my own company and build it around values that mattered.”

Moore launched METGreen Solutions in 2014. Today, the Norfolk-based company is a Small Business Administration–certified Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) that designs, integrates and manages IT solutions for federal customers. METGreen helps agencies operate more efficiently by leveraging emerging technologies and tailoring solutions to meet growing data and processing demands.

From the beginning, Moore intentionally focused on federal work, particularly with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

“I’m a veteran, and I was disheartened by some of the processes and challenges veterans faced,” he says. “I wanted to do whatever I could to help make things better, not grow bureaucracy but improve how services are delivered.”

While Moore brought deep technical experience to the table, launching a company in the federal contracting space presented a steep learning curve, especially on the procurement side.

“The biggest early challenge was understanding contracts,” Moore says. “Everything the federal government buys comes through a contract, and I hadn’t been exposed to that side of things before.”

That’s when Moore turned to the Nebraska APEX Accelerator, a government contracting assistance program within the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC), for guidance. Through the APEX Accelerator, METGreen gained hands-on support navigating federal procurement systems, understanding contract vehicles and identifying pathways into government markets.

“Once the business infrastructure was in place, they helped us learn how to break into federal contracting — who to contact, how to leverage contracts, and how to get in front of procurement specialists,” said Moore.

“METGreen Solutions is more than a contractor—they’re veteran-founded, community-focused, and they operate with military discipline and mission-driven execution. They deliver reliable, scalable IT solutions to federal customers across the country, moving nearly 100,000 pieces of equipment each year. That’s why METGreen Solutions, Inc. is a standout choice for NBDC’s Government Contractor of the Year,” said Meghann Buresh, Nebraska APEX Accelerator consultant.

With NBDC’s assistance, METGreen gained a clearer path into government contracting, building agency relationships and positioning the company for long-term success.

Over time, METGreen expanded beyond its initial VA focus and now supports multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Transportation and entities within the Department of Defense. The company also holds the NASA SEWP V contract and, through strategic partnerships, has access to a broad range of federal, state, local government, and education contracts — allowing METGreen to efficiently procure, architect, and deliver IT solutions. Moore says continued engagement with the Nebraska APEX Accelerator has helped the company stay competitive as it expands into new agencies and contract vehicles.

Moore defines success not by revenue, but by relationships.

“Are our customers taken care of? Are we delivering what they expect?” he says. “And just as important, are our employees taken care of? If those things are aligned, the revenue will follow.”

That people-first mindset extends to the company’s connection to its home community. METGreen’s headquarters is in Norfolk, a location Moore says reflects the values he wants the company to embody.

“I grew up in Nebraska, and you just can’t beat Midwest values,” he says. “There’s a work ethic here you can’t replicate. People take pride in their work, they support one another, and they want the whole team to succeed.”

Giving back is also a priority. METGreen supports veterans’ organizations, donates to local VA facilities, contributes to the Food Bank for the Heartland, and sponsors youth sports teams in the Norfolk area.

Moore credits METGreen’s success to its people and the values they share.

“Find like-minded people with the same values, and you’ll be successful,” he says.

Through mission-driven leadership, strong partnerships and continued support from the Nebraska APEX Accelerator program within NBDC, METGreen Solutions continues to help federal agencies prepare for what tomorrow might bring — while staying grounded in Nebraska values.
