The Oct. 7, 2023, attack by Hamas on Israel shocked the world and ignited tensions globally. On the one-year anniversary of the attack, NCITE experts offer their perspectives on how the attack and its aftermath have shaped the terrorism threat landscape in the U.S. and internationally.

One Year Later: The Impact of the Oct. 7 Attack in the United States

This new report includes material from 27 experts in the NCITE network, writing from their professional perspectives on the impact in the U.S. of the Oct. 7 attack and the ensuing war. This report was produced to address an important topic to homeland security: assessing the terrorism threat landscape in the U.S. one year following a major global terrorist attack.


NCITE Insights – Oct. 7: One Year Later with Gina Ligon

On the latest episode of NCITE Insights, Director Gina Ligon, Ph.D., speaks about the homeland security concerns that have resulted from the Oct. 7 attack and the ensuing conflict in the Middle East. Ligon draws on her research on ISIS to analyze Hamas's online outreach and the increasing risk of homegrown violent extremism from their propaganda.

NCITE Insights – A Closer Look at Hezbollah with Martha Crenshaw

The fallout from the Oct. 7 attack has sparked action from the Iran-backed "Axis of Resistance," which includes the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah. On this episode of the podcast, host Erin Grace speaks with Martha Crenshaw, Ph.D., NCITE researcher and emerita senior fellow at Stanford University’s Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, about Hezbollah and recent developments in the Middle East.
