Whatever your discipline, gerontology is relevant!

The growth in the number of older persons anticipated for the immediate future is fueling the need for students to become knowledgeable about the challenges of aging and working with older adults.

Requirements for the Undergraduate Minor

A minor in Gerontology can be completed at UNO or UNL

The undergraduate minor in Gerontology consists of 18 credit hours. Nine hours of core courses are required and nine hours to be selected by the student with advice and support from the department's academic advisor.

UNO

Core courses required (UNO):

  • GERO 2000 - Introduction to Gerontology
  • GERO 3000 - Community Resources for Older Adults (on-campus) OR GERO 4670 Programs and Services (online)
  • 12 more credits in Gerontology electives
