Undergraduate degree from University of Nebraska at Omaha, Juris Doctorate from the J. Rueben Clark Law School. Worked as General Council and Judge, working with the Omaha Tribe of Nebraska. Director of the Tribal Management and Emergency Services Program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
