Teacher Scholars Academy Benefits

Scholarships

Each Teacher Scholar receives $5,000 per semester over four years, a total of $40k in funding. In addition, every applicant to Teacher Scholars Academy is considered for all College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences scholarships—even if they are not selected as a Scholar.

Real-World Experience

Experiential learning is a key part of the Teacher Scholar experience, including over 50 hours of practicum experience, service to the community, global opportunities such as study abroad and other international partnerships, and other hands-on educational experiences.

Education as a Profession

Teacher Scholars are encouraged to be involved with local, state, regional, and national/international professional educational organizations. Scholars can also participate in educational research, through their coursework and as part of the UNO Honors program and are supported to travel to present their work at professional conferences.

Cohort Model

As a Teacher Scholar, students will work closely with other high-performing scholars by engaging in frequent seminars, retreats, courses, professional development on aspects of teaching such as classroom management, and special projects specially designed for each cohort. As a result, scholars will graduate with a strong network of professional peers.
