Noyce Scholarship Program

Are you interested in teaching math or science? The Noyce scholarship program may be an option for you.

Noyce supports talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) undergraduate majors and professionals to become effective K-12 STEM teachers.

Noyce Scholars graduate with dual bachelor’s degrees in Education and Mathematics or Science. Scholars commit to teach in a high-needs middle school or secondary school as a math or science teacher.

Benefits of the Noyce Scholarship program
  • Noyce cost-of-attendance scholarships provide up to $16,000 per year to juniors and seniors pursuing teacher certification in math or science.
  • Noyce fellowships are also available to provide up to $15,000 stipends for one year to individuals with a STEM degree who are interested in teacher certification to teach math or science.
  • Paid internship opportunities are available for freshman and sophomore students to explore their interest in teaching.
  • Noyce scholars and interns gain professional development opportunities beyond a regular bachelor’s degree program. Scholars are highly prepared to be successful in their STEM classrooms.
  • Every scholar is paired with a supportive faculty mentor, allowing students to customize their undergraduate experience through hands-on experiential learning and/or research experiences.
  • Noyce scholars and interns work closely with other high-performing UNO STEM students by engaging in special seminars and lectures, study prep groups, community and campus outreach projects, and fun social activities. Scholars will graduate with a strong network of professional peers.

"The Noyce Scholarship program opened many doors for me. For example, I worked with a teacher from Bryan High School and when it came time to do my student teaching, I was able to be his student teacher and received a job opportunity at Bryan."

"Through the Noyce program, I assisted with a class at Metropolitan Community College where the majority of students were from minority populations and struggled with mathematical content. I really connected with the students and enjoyed what I was doing. I also know they benefited from having someone like me there with them."
