Be a Judge

CIEF provides three different opportunities to be a judge: Breakthrough Weekend, BigIdea! Pitch Contest and Maverick Business Plan Competition. To lean more about each opportunity please read below.

Breakthrough Weekend

Breakthrough Weekend challenges innovative students and community members to collaborate and build a business in a weekend. Teams walk through the steps of starting a business from idea formulation to consultation with mentors, all the way to the pitch. On the final day teams present their idea to a panel of judges and the top three teams are awarded. If you would like to be a Breakthrough Weekend judge please apply by taking this short survey.

BigIdea! Pitch Contest

Every Fall the Center for Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Franchising hosts the BigIdea! Pitch Contest. University of Nebraska at Omaha students from all colleges partake in this real world experience and look to gain funding for their business. CIEF needs judges for both the preliminary round and the final round. If you would like to be a judge for the BigIdea! Pitch Contest please apply by taking this short survey.

Maverick Business Plan Competition

In the Spring, students participate in the Maverick Business Plan Competition. Students submit a comprehensive business plan that identifies a problem and presents a proposal to address it. If you would like to be a judge for this competition please apply by taking this short survey.
