Academic Advisor Information

If you’re a declared Foreign Languages major with 27 or more hours you’ll need to see a faculty member from the Department of World Languages and Literature for advising. (If you're undeclared or have fewer than 27 hours, you'll need to see an Arts and Sciences Advising Center Advisor.)

Our faculty advisors are here not only to help you plan your schedule, but also to answer questions about our programs of study, study abroad options, career options, as well as graduate and professional schools. You may schedule an advising appointment during any point in the year, but should note that the heaviest advising time at UNO is typically during the months of October, for the spring semester classes, and March for the fall semester.

Our faculty advisors are responsible for making their own advising schedules. Most will post sign-up sheets for advising times on their doors or online to facilitate advising during the heaviest advising months. During the rest of the year, you can email or call your advisor directly to schedule an appointment.

Please note that in order to enrich our curriculum, many of our faculty advisors participate in international travel during the summer months. For summer advising questions and appointments, please contact Marie Lee at mglee@unomaha.edu or 402.554.4841 for assistance.

Don’t know who your advisor is? In the Department of World Languages and Literature, we assign advisors based on the language of instruction and the first letter of the student's last name.

Our Advising Model

The College of Arts and Sciences uses a two-adviser model. Our students begin with an adviser in the Arts and Sciences Advising Center, then transition to their major department for advising. Make an appointment with an adviser.
