Everything You Need to Know About Baxter Arena

Policies, Accessibility, Prohibited Behavior & Items, and Lost and Found

Policies

  • Doors will open one (1) hour prior to each ceremony.
  • All bags will be checked at the arena door. NO clear bag policy.
  • Graduates: DO NOT bring anything with you into the arena. This includes a purse, backpack, coat, etc. Please give these items to your family/guests to hold during the ceremony.
  • Graduates will be seated on the floor of the arena.
  • Guests will not be allowed on the floor of the arena at any point during the ceremony. Only university staff and photographers.
  • Graduates will be directed outside immediately following the ceremony; ask your guests to meet you there.
  • There are great photo opportunities on both Dodge and Scott Campus, we recommend your group heads there to capture your graduate’s big day!

Accessibility

  • Graduates: please reach out to the Accessibility Services Center unoaccessibility@unomaha.edu and the UNO Events team unoevents@unomaha.edu to inform us you need an accommodation.

Prohibited Behavior & Items

Please note: NO clear bag policy is required for commencement events.

  • Any type of weapon, fake weapon, or object resembling a weapon.
  • Alcohol, drugs, illegal substances, and vaporizing pens. Baxter Arena is a smoke-free facility, so no smoking materials or e-cigarettes are permitted in the facility
  • Laser Pointing Devices
  • Drones
  • Hover Boards, Heelys, skateboards, and rollerblades
  • Artificial noise-making devices of any kind including whistles and air horns
  • Fireworks, pyrotechnics, and aerosols
  • Outside food and beverage (20 oz. or smaller empty clear plastic bottles will be allowed for water)
  • Animals except for service animals
  • Any item deemed to compromise public safety
