Abdul Hameed participated in UNMC's Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP), conducting cancer research in Dr. Band's laboratory at the Eppley Institute for Research in Cancer. He will continue this research throughout the school year. Previously, as a Scott Scholars Design Studio intern, Abdul Hameed partnered with Collective for Hope to develop innovative strategies that strengthened volunteer recruitment and engagement. On campus, he serves as the event coordinator for the Afghan Student Association. Following graduation, Abdul Hameed plans to attend medical school and pursue a career as a physician.
