Additional Information

As a Scott Scholars Design Studio intern this past summer, Makenzie collaborated with a team to develop creative, user-centered solutions that helped an on-campus group, Scholars in STEM, reach more kids. Together, they planned and led an event for 29 middle-school students that featured several engaging STEM activities that stretched their learning beyond the typical classroom. Makenzie also regularly volunteers with Collective for Hope’s HEALS to the Pavement Walk for pregnancy and infant loss and participates in conservation cleanups through the UNO Conservation Club. She is skilled in Ionic, Angular, Capacitor, Firebase, Git, and Trello. Following graduation, Makenzie plans to pursue a master’s degree in environmental engineering and hopes to work with the EPA or Army Corps of Engineers to help reclaim lost land at Superfund sites.
