Katie was selected for a prestigious summer research opportunity at the Trudeau Institute, where she conducted research in Dr. Deb Brown's laboratory, investigating strategies to improve the effectiveness of influenza vaccines. Her research focused on vaccine adjuvants and Toll-like receptor (TLR) agonists to better understand immune responses and support the development of more effective vaccines, particularly for individuals with weakened immune systems. Previously, as a Scott Scholars Design Studio intern, Katie partnered with Completely KIDS to develop user-centered solutions that strengthened teen engagement and retention. She plans to pursue an MD/PhD, combining her interests in genetic therapies, immunology, and CRISPR technology to advance biomedical research and patient care.
