Additional Information

Uyen was a SHPEP Medical Scholar with UNMC this past summer while also working part-time as a medical scribe at Think Healthcare before transitioning to her current role with Nebraska Medicine as a CNA in their Oncology Progressive Care Unit. She also works as an undergraduate research assistant in Dr. Guisbert's lab, investigating the effects of chronic mild heat stress on C. elegans viability, lifespan, and reproduction. At UNO, Uyen is the vice president of the Vietnamese Student Organization and an engaged member of the Scott Scholars Leadership Council's Outreach Committee. Uyen is heavily involved in the community, volunteering as a mentor at Learning for All as well as at the International Council of Refugees and Immigrants in addition to her volunteer work in the Pediatric Unit at UNMC. After graduation, Uyen plans to pursue an MD/MPH with a specialization in pediatric oncology.
