Jenna Kramer

This summer, Jenna continued working in Dr. Erik Garcia's neuropharmacology lab on her research project funded by a Fund for Undergraduate Scholarly Experiences (FUSE) grant. She conducted RNAscope on tissue she previously knocked down the mu-opioid receptor in the medial prefrontal cortex in the spring and imaged tissue on a fluorescent microscope. She also traveled to Oregon to present her research at the College on Problems of Drug Dependence 88th Scientific Meeting in June. Previously, Jenna was a Stowers Summer Scholar at the Stowers Institute for Medical Research, conducting full-time neuroscience research in Dr. Linheng Li’s Genetics & Genomics Lab. Jenna also participated in the 2024 Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) at UNMC and was a 2023 Scott Scholars Design Studio intern, where she helped develop an app to improve access to dental care in rural communities. At UNO, Jenna is a lab manager in Dr. Garcia's Neuropharmacology Lab, a member of the University Honors Program, and the secretary for the National Honor Society for Neuroscience. Jenna is applying to neuroscience PhD programs this fall in order to study the neural mechanisms of substance use disorders.
