Daily Operations
The Interim Title IX Coordinator and Investigator will be moving to an off campus working model. Contact with the Title IX office can be made by calling or emailing. Arrangements will be made to meet via Zoom or teleconference, depending on the need and resources of the individual contacting Title IX. We will continue to be adaptable and dynamic to meet the needs of our community.
Supportive/Interim Measures
The Title IX Office is dedicated to ensuring continuity of supportive and interim measures for individuals at UNO. We understand that needs can shift during this time, so we welcome communication with our office so we may best support our students, faculty, and staff. UNO’s Sexual Misconduct Policy
Sexual misconduct, which includes domestic violence, dating violence, sexual harassment, sexual assault, sexual exploitation, and stalking, is unacceptable behavior under University of Nebraska policy and against the law. Retaliation against a Complainant or a third party to prevent or otherwise obstruct the reporting or remediation of sexual misconduct is prohibited.

What is Title IX?
UNO is responsible for responding to allegations of sexual misconduct to immediately stop the harassment, remedy its affects, and prevent its recurrence.
- Prohibits sex discrimination in educational institutions that receive federal funding
- Prohibited conduct includes dating violence, domestic violence, sexual assault, sexual harassment, sexual exploitation, stalking, and retaliation.
- Applies to students, faculty, staff, and anyone present on campus regardless of sexual orientation, immigration status, gender identity, or disability status
- Retaliation for reporting is prohibited by law and covered under Title IX
Reporting Options
An individual can engage any combination of these options, to include all three.
- Make a formal complaint to the Title IX Coordinator
- This begins an administrative process that could result in university-related sanctions
- This cannot and will not result in criminal charges
- Make a report to appropriate law enforcement agency
- This could result in criminal action being taken such as criminal charges
- This cannot and will not result in university-related sanctions and/or actions
- Engage with resources such as advocacy and counseling
- This will not result in any criminal charges or university-related sanctions

Title IX Process
- This is the method to make an administrative complaint regarding an incident that one wishes to be investigated for Administrative investigation under Student Code of Conduct or Employee Misconduct Policy and Procedures
- Complainants can make an administrative report at the same time as making a police report
- The Title IX Office will reach out to the student with resources either via email or a phone call
- Resources include information about advocacy, counseling, reporting to the police, and the Title IX process
- Title IX will conduct a preliminary review to determine if the university is obligated to act based on the seriousness of the information
- If the student does not wish to pursue any action through Title IX, the information will be documented
- If the student wishes to pursue a Title IX complaint, the process will be initiated

- This is the method to make a criminal complaint regarding an incident that one wishes to be investigated for criminal conduct/charges/proceedings
- Complainants can make a criminal report at the same time as making a report to the university

Retaliation is Prohibited
Retaliation means intimidating, threatening, coercing, or discriminating against any individual for the purpose of interfering with any right or privilege secured by this Policy or because the individual has made a report or complaint, testified, assisted, or participated or refused to participate in any manner in an investigation, proceeding, or hearing under this Policy.
Advocacy and Counseling Services
Advocates serve the needs of victims and survivors of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. This includes those who are directly experiencing violence or friends or family members trying to offer the survivor support. Services provided through Gender and Sexuality Resource Center (GSRC):
