The Center for Faculty Excellence sponsors onboarding and orientation sessions for all new full-time faculty and new / returning part-time faculty.

New Full-Time Faculty Onboarding

Beginning summer 2020, onboarding for new full-time faculty took the form of a special 6-week session focused on prepping fall semester courses.

Onboarding continues during the academic year with a series of facilitated conversations addressing key topics and resources in support of professional success. New faculty will be contacted with more information on specific sessions.

Part-Time Faculty Orientation

Orientation sessions for part-time faculty are planned for early August (see CFE calendar for specific dates and information to register).

Resources highlighted at the sessions are provided below.

Resource Description
Canvas Design Studio Use the studio to explore Canvas features and get ideas for use in your own courses.
Instructional Technology UNO offers a variety of digital systems to support your teaching and service needs. Learn more about these systems and how to use them effectively.
Keep Learning The Keep Learning site is intended to support students as they navigate in the remote teaching and learning environment. Point your students to these resources and services.
Keep Teaching The Keep Teaching site in Canvas provides a broad range of materials and strategies for teaching in a remote learning environment.
Professional Development Explore professional development opportunities offered by the Center for Faculty Excellence and its partners.
Retention Resource Guide The Center for Faculty Excellence partnered with faculty experts on campus to bring workshops relating to how faculty intention can lead to student retention. View workshop recordings, one-page overview documents, and brief student and faculty testimonials.
Strategies for Connecting with Students Ideas for creating and maintaining connections with students throughout the semester are offered in this guide.
Teaching Analysis By Students (TABS) Gather mid-semester feedback from your students using the Center for Faculty Excellence's TABS service.
UNO Faculty Resources Learn more about campus units, resources, and services from these brief overviews and links to websites. Several are featured in the orientation/onboarding sessions.
