As an economics department at a metropolitan university, we know that practice experience is a critical part of any student's journey. Problems involving real data or situations from organizations codify foundational lessons taught in our core classes.

As a result, many of classes integrate community consulting projects into the class. These projects work on real problems for real organizations. Students learn from the experience and organizations receive free consulting and exposure to possible to new hires.

  • Forecasting models (time series as well as predictive modeling)

Business Intelligence

Dashboard creation, visualization, and automated report generation in Power BI.

Data Analysis from Scratch

  • Dashboard creation and visualization
  • Forecasting (sales, inventory, injuries, etc.)
  • Model creation and correlation analysis (possible drivers of sales, inventory, injuries, etc.)

Econometrics

Applying econometric models, communicating results, and visualizations.

Economic Conditions Analysis

Economic analysis of Omaha and the state's regional economies, employment modeling and projections by industry, and contemporary special topics important to business growth. A student authored report will be produced and distributed to local media outlets and other business stakeholders in the region every spring semester.
