Writing Center Staff Fall 2019
Do you enjoy writing? Do you enjoy helping people? We hire undergraduate writing consultants each semester, with application deadlines every October and March. Applications are welcome from all majors and from first-year students through seniors. Interested students are encouraged to talk with current members of the Writing Center staff and/or the Director or Associate Director. Hint: applicants tend to be more successful when they have had at least one appointment in the writing center prior to applying, as this gives a better understanding of the center and role consultants play in teaching writing.
Office Assistants in the center play vital roles in supporting the students, staff, and faculty who use the center as well as the writing consultants, director, and associate director. We hire office assistants regularly. Interested in working in the writing center as support personnel? Contact Dr. Travis Adams at firstname.lastname@example.org
Volunteers and Interns
We welcome students who would like experience teaching writing one with one, whenever such an experience would connect to their coursework at UNO or be a valuable experience in preparation for a wide range of career paths. Interns and volunteers regularly consult with writers, but there are also opportunities to develop special projects or specialize in a variety of areas including: ESL/ELL, online consulting, pedagogy, composition theory, marketing, grammar & linguistics, etc. If you are interested in volunteering or doing an internship as a writing consultant, contact Dr. Travis Adams at email@example.com to get started!
