Undergraduates, interns, and volunteers welcome!

Undergraduates - Writing Consultants

Do you enjoy writing? Do you enjoy helping people? We hire undergraduate writing consultants each semester, with application deadlines in October and March.

Applications are welcome from all majors and from first-year students through seniors. Interested students are encouraged to talk with current members of the Writing Center staff and/or the Director or Associate Director.

Hint: applicants tend to be more successful when they have had at least one appointment in the writing center prior to applying, as this gives a better understanding of the center and role consultants play in teaching writing.

Apply online!

Office Assistants

Office Assistants in the center play vital roles in supporting the students, staff, and faculty who use the center as well as the writing consultants, director, and associate director.

We typically hire office assistants in October and March. Interested in working in the writing center as support personnel?

Interns and volunteers regularly consult with writers, but there are also opportunities to develop special projects or specialize in a variety of areas including:

  • ESL/ELL
  • Online consulting
  • Pedagogy
  • Composition theory,
  • Marketing
  • Grammar & linguistics

If you are interested in volunteering or doing an internship as a writing consultant, contact Dr. Travis Adams at gtadams@unomaha.edu to get started!
