Introducing Your Students to the Writing Center

The Writing Center offers brief (about 10 minute) orientations designed to familiarize students with our services. Instructors can bring their classes to our main campus location or have a writing consultant come to their class (UNO campus only).

To request an orientation, please email unowritingcenter@unomaha.edu; include your class start/end time, building and room number, and at least two possible dates for the orientation. Please also indicate if you want to bring your class to 150 ASH or have a consultant visit your classroom. Our staff will then follow-up to confirm your orientation.

Orientations begin the second week of the semester and are available through the last week of classes.

For instructors teaching online courses or unable to schedule an orientation during class time, please use the video below to help students understand how to use the Writing Center.

The presentation contains basic facts and policies regarding the Writing Center and how we help writers. We encourage faculty to embed the link in Canvas or send it directly to students, especially for online courses. We are working to update our orientation video and hope to have it available again soon.

We apologize for any inconvenience. In the meantime, please use this pdf. file: UNO Writing Center Orientation
