Biography

Tara Toscano is an Instructor of Spanish in the Department of World Languages and Literature at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. She teaches a diverse range of courses, including elementary and intermediate Spanish, Spanish Conversation, Composition, and Phonetics and Phonology. As the coordinator of the Spanish introductory sequence, she has redesigned the curriculum to incorporate experiential learning and cultural topics, such as current events and contemporary Spanish music and film. Experiential learning engages students through hands-on, real-world applications, builds confidence in language learners, and fosters deeper understanding, critical thinking, and cultural connections. Additionally, drawing on her extensive training in online teaching, she effectively delivers asynchronous courses that promote meaningful student interactions.

  • M.A. in Hispanic Studies with a focus on theoretical linguistics from the University of Illinois at Chicago
  • B.A. in Teaching of Spanish from the University of Illinois at Chicago
