Lauren Baker is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Her teaching and research interests focus on Middle East politics, environmental politics, environmental politics, and authoritarian regimes.

In her current book project, she examines the politics of garbage, illustrating how authoritarian states seek to “sanitize” and depoliticize contentious issues like waste at sites of global environmental governance in the MENA region.
