About Valeria

Strengths: Empathy, Positivity, Developer, Relator, Achiever

Valeria earned both her undergraduate and graduate degrees from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, completing a B.S. in Organizational & Relational Communication and an M.S.Ed. in Higher Education Student Affairs. As a student, she was actively involved on campus—working in various student roles and joining multiple organizations. One of her most meaningful experiences was serving as a New Student Enrollment Leader, where she welcomed incoming freshmen and their families as they transitioned to college. She also loved being part of the Hispanic Student Association, where she had the opportunity to celebrate and share her culture with the campus community.

After graduation, Valeria began her professional journey as an Admissions Counselor in UNK’s Office of Admissions, traveling across Nebraska and Colorado to recruit and support prospective students through the college application process. Her passion for student success deepened when she transitioned into the role of Academic Advisor. Today, as a TLC Specialist at UNO, Valeria continues to enjoy connecting with students and learning more about the Maverick community.

Outside of work, Valeria loves exploring her creativity—lately through sewing and upcycling used items. She also enjoys traveling, reading thrillers, and spending time with family and friends.
