First-Year Experience (FYE) requirements for all Buffett scholars.

First-Year Scholars have courses, meetings, and community requirements during their first year in TLC.

FALL 2022 REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRST-YEAR SCHOLARS

US 1020 - TLC Academic Seminar (same group # as ENGL 1200)

*CBA students will take BSAD 1110; IS&T students will take CIST 1010 instead of US 1020.

ENGL 1200 - Autobiographical Reading/Writing (same group # as US 1020)
One (1) TLC General Education Course
♦TLC Scholars who are English Second Language (ESL) Learners:
• EPPE Score of 3: US 1020; US 1000 - TLC Bridge; ENGL 1200; and One (1) TLC General Edcuation Course
• EPPE Score of 2 or below: US 1020; US 1000 - TLC Bridge; Two (2) TLC General Education Courses

SPRING 2023 REQUIREMENTS FOR FIRST-YEAR SCHOLARS

One (1) TLC General Education Course*

* An additional TLC General Education Course can be added if the academic advisor believes extra support is needed.

♦TLC Scholars who are English Second Language (ESL) Learners:
If ENGL 1090 was completed in the fall:
• ENGL 1200 - Autobiographical Reading/Writing
• ESL 1100 - ESL with TLC
• One (1) TLC General Education Course

FIRST-YEAR REQUIRED EVENTS & MEETINGS
Attend a TLC designated Enrollment Day
Attend the Required TLC Summer Summit
Meet with your first-year peer mentor monthly
Record a minimum of 3 swiped study hours weekly
Meet with your TLC Specialist for a mid-term meeting each semester
Attend designated TLC Community Dinners (Tentatively: November 9, 2022; February 8 and April 12, 2023)
