About Rafael

Strengths – Belief, Adaptability, Relator, Futuristic and Connectedness.

Originally from Brazil, Rafael first moved to the United States in 2013 when he received a soccer scholarship at Iowa Western Community College. After graduating with his associate degree, Rafael transferred to Central Methodist University, where he finished his collegiate soccer career and earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration. After graduating in 2017, Rafael continued his education, pursued a master’s degree in education, and graduated in 2021.

Rafael has worked in different settings of higher education, such as a graduated assistant men’s soccer coach at Central Methodist and as an assistant men’s soccer coach at Iowa Western Community College. Also, Rafael worked as an admissions advisor and recruiter at Iowa Western Community College, where he traveled across Iowa recruiting students and assisting with getting them enrolled in their first semester of classes. Prior to UNO, Rafael worked as an admissions counselor at Bellevue University, where he assisted students with all the steps of the college enrollment process.

In his downtime, Rafael enjoys spending time with his wife Elizabeth and his golden retriever Rio, watching series, cooking, and hanging out with family and friends. He also loves to travel back to Brazil to visit family and friends.
