Michael is from Roca, NE, and is studying civil engineering and environmental science. His non-profit experience includes partnering with UNO and UNMC to develop the Millwork Commons area. For this project, his team developed a satellite prototyping lab for both community and university use in hopes of increasing community engagement with both the Scott Scholars Program, UNO, and UNMC. Previously, he worked with another local nonprofit, the AIM Institute. He and his team developed an innovative marketing campaign to help the AIM Institute fill a much-needed gap in resources. His internship experience includes working at Kiewit Construction and Olsson. At Olsson, he was a bridge/road structural intern where he assisted the structural engineer in developing project deliverables and market research. In his time at Kiewit Construction, Michael worked as a field/office engineering intern in which he was tasked with learning the basics of the construction industry and aid in a large concrete culvert project. This summer, he will continue to work for Kiewit Construction as an engineering intern in Palatka, FL on a combined cycle power plant. His career interests include the civil engineering field, with an emphasis on adapting future infrastructure projects to be highly environmentally conscious.
