Submission Guidelines for the Maverick Daily and Bullseye

  1. UNO
  2. Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications
  3. Public Relations
  4. Submission Guidelines for the Maverick Daily and Bullseye

Want your news item or event promoted on campus? Here's what you need to know about submission guidelines for possible inclusion in the Bullseye (for students) and the Maverick Daily (for faculty/staff).

Submission Process

The submission process below is only applicable to the Bullseye and the Maverick Daily.

All approved items for these publications will automatically be considered for promotion across all of the university's official communication channels.

For all other MarComm needs, including graphic design, media promotion, or photography, please use the Start Your Project form.

Before submitting

If your submission is a news or event item, please give your college or area communicator a heads up. They may have additional ideas for promoting the item beyond the newsletters.

College or Area Communicators

  • College of Arts and Sciences: Courtney Kopietz
  • College of Business Administration: General Email
  • College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences: Mimi Boswell
  • College of Communication, Fine Arts and Media: Randy Mattley
  • College of Information Science & Technology: Le Racha Simon
  • College of Public Affairs and Community Service: Deborah Vihstadt
  • Academic Affairs: Sarah Dillon
  • Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center: Robyn Loos
  • Nebraska Business Development Center: Kelly Jefferson
  • NCITE: Erin Grace
  • Office of Engagement: Robyn Loos
  • Office of Graduate Studies: Molly Spelts
  • Office of Multicultural Affairs: General Email
  • Office of Student Involvement: Dustin Wolfe
  • UNO Alumni Association: General Email
  • UNO Libraries: Claire Staub

All submissions should:

  • Be submitted using this form, at least two weeks in advance of the first desired publication date, not the event/deadline date.

  • Be sponsored by a UNO office, department, program, or registered organization (community engagement partners in good standing may also create submissions, but the event must include a service learning component).

  • Include a paragraph about the event or announcement (250 words or less), not just a flier/document that contains information.

  • Fliers will not be included in articles and events.

Items that will not be promoted:

  • Job candidate resumes (unless requested by the Chancellor's Office)

  • On or off-campus events not related to UNO

  • Personal social media accounts, personal blogs, personal websites, or related media

  • Political or controversial statements

  • Enrollment for individual classes or programs (certificates, degrees, majors, minors, etc.), this excludes professional development workshops

  • Individual capstone or student projects

What happens after you submit a news item or event:

  • If there are questions about your submission, you will be contacted via email.

  • All submissions will be edited for writing style, accuracy, clarity, and brevity.

  • A new photo (or photos) may be selected for inclusion in the article or event representing your submission.

  • All approved submissions will automatically be considered for promotion across all of the university's official communication channels.
