Logo Lock-up

  5. Logo Lock-up

The Logo Lock-up is the arrangement of both the University Logo and the Campus Icon together. Since both the University Logo and the Campus Icon are required on all communications pieces, the Logo Lock-up is recommended to be used whenever your material does not allow sufficient room for the logo and icon to exist separately.

Always use original renderings of the Lock-up.

Guidelines

1. Color

  • The Logo Lock-up may appear in three-color (black, white, and red), all-black, or all-white.
  • Unlike the University Logo, the Omaha designation is displayed in the same color (black or white) as the word Nebraska in the Logo Lock-up.
  • The Campus Icon always has a white outline, which may not be visible on white and light backgrounds. Do not remove the Campus Icon’s white outline or add an outline to the white outline.

2. Clearance Space and Size

  • The minimum clearance space for the LogoLock-up is defined as the height of the “O” in the Omaha designation. No type or other graphical element should be placed within the bounding box.
  • The clearance space rule should be maintained as the logo is proportionately enlarged or reduced in size.
  • Both the University Logo and Campus Icon must not be reduced past their minimum size requirements. Therefore, the minimum size of the Logo Lock-up (including divider line) must not be reduced any smaller than 1.75” wide.

3. Readability

  • The Logo Lock-up must be legible.
  • When the Logo Lock-up is placed over artwork or photography, the background must have substantial contrast to the Logo Lock-up.

4. Usage

  • DO use the Logo Lock-up on communications materials to save space and display both the University Logo and Campus Icon, which are both required elements.
  • DO use only approved, unaltered versions of the Logo Lock-up.
  • DO remember when scaling (enlarging or reducing) the Logo Lock-up, to always make sure that the shift key is used to maintain the original proportion of the mark.

Improper Uses of the LogoLock-up

  • DO NOT modify, redesign, redraw, animate, distort, or alter the proportions of the logo.
  • DO NOT add words, images, or other design elements or effects to the logo, or add the logo to another graphic.
  • DO NOT modify the size or position relationship of any element within the lock-up.
  • DO NOT replace the typeface with any other.
  • DO NOT swap or alter colors or use two colors on black or dark backgrounds.
  • DO NOT remove the white outline of the Campus Icon or attempt to recreate, add to, or modify the white outline in any way.
  • DO NOT use any mark, other than the University Logo or Campus Icon, within the Logo Lock-up.
