The Office of Strategic Marketing and Communications (MarComm) is responsible for the creation of the Maverick Daily and the Bullseye. Both are available on the UNO website and sent via email on a daily and weekly basis.
About the Maverick Daily and the Bullseye
The Maverick Daily is a daily online publication for faculty, staff, and administration sent every working day (except holidays) Monday through Friday, that is dedicated to providing relevant news, event details, and information about the UNO campus and community. The content is provided by and for the UNO community.
The Bullseye is an online publication for students that is dedicated to providing news highlights, event details, and information about the UNO campus and community. It is sent once each week Mondays. Occasionally, during busy weeks and when key student-related or public events take place, the Bullseye (Mid-Week Edition) is sent on Mondays. The content is provided by and for the UNO community.
Sign up for the Maverick Daily and BullseyeWhat information can I submit?
Announcements must have a broad appeal to the campus community and must apply to all faculty, staff, and administration or to all students. Announcements must be sponsored or hosted by a registered UNO student organization, department, program, or office.
What information won’t run?
- Job candidate résumés; only senior executive positions will be posted. (i.e.: assistant vice chancellor and above)
- Job postings
- Off-campus events not related to UNO
- Personal social media accounts, personal blogs, personal websites, or related media
- Individual classes, class projects, or class surveys, excluding professional development workshops
How do I submit an item?
If you’d like your announcement to be considered in both publications, please submit a Start Your Project request. Read the submission guidelines for more information.
What are my other options for informing the campus of my announcement or event?
Promotion of your announcement or event is important to its success and we encourage using multiple ways to communicate your event.
Here are a few ways to let the campus know about your event or announcement:
- UNO News Center
- Digital monument signs
- UNO official social media channels
- UNO college/department/organization social media channels
- College/building TV monitors
- Fliers/posters
- Verbal announcements at group meetings
- Student org software programs
The Submission Process
The submission process below is only applicable to The Bullseye and the Maverick Daily.
All approved items for these publications will automatically be considered for promotion across all of the university's official communication channels.
For all other MarComm needs, including graphic design, media promotion, or photography, please use the Start Your Project form.
All submissions should:
- Be submitted using this form, at least two weeks in advance of the first desired publication date, not the event/deadline date.
- Be sponsored by a UNO office, department, program, or registered organization (community engagement partners in good standing may also create submissions, but the event must include a service learning component).
- Include a paragraph about the event or announcement (250 words or less), not just a flier/document that contains information.
- Fliers will not be included in articles and events.
Items that will not be promoted:
- Job candidate résumés
- On or off-campus events not related to UNO
- Personal social media accounts, personal blogs, personal websites, or related media
- Political or controversial statements
- Enrollment for individual classes (excluding professional development workshops)
- Individual capstone or student projects
What happens after you submit a news item or event:
- If there are questions about your submission, you will be contacted via email.
- All submissions will be edited for house style, accuracy, clarity, and brevity.
- A new photo (or photos) may be selected for inclusion in the article or event representing your submission.
- All approved submissions will automatically be considered for promotion across all of the university's official communication channels.
