Community Garden Sign Painting at Elmwood Earth Day 2025

SustainUNO and the community gardens encourage the community to get involved with the campus gardens. This year at the Elmwood Earth Day, we encouraged children to come paint a fruit, vegetable, or flower sign to display in our gardens! We are so excited to make the gardens more colorful this year!

Get Creative At The Gardens

Throughout the year SustainUNO works to make the garden bigger and better. This year, we are adding fun signs to designate what plants are what in the gardens. These handcrafted signs come from our students and help from the community!

The Community Gardens get a head start in 2025!!

This year, SustainUNO and the community gardens were able to collaborate with the UNO Greenhouse to get a head start on our seeds. We worked to plant and water seeds all spring so plants were ready to go in the ground in May. A big thanks to all our seedling caretakers!

Durango's Advancement and Support Hub, Maverick Food Pantry, and SustainUNO are dedicated to bringing our campus community fresh, healthy produce during the growing season. Our community gardens are located next to the Pepbowl and on the Dodge Campus Housing grounds, and upkeep for these is thanks to our amazing volunteers from all three collaborative groups.

If you are interested in working in the dirt, planning, or just interested in all-around working with the community gardens, click the button down below to sign up to volunteer or join SustainUNO!
