Biography
Nichole Niebur is a Cybersecurity Instructor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, where she teaches and mentors students preparing for careers in computing and information security. She brings more than 15 years of classroom experience in computer science and information technology, having taught advanced courses at the high school and collegiate levels, including AP Computer Science Principles, AP Computer Science A, IB Computer Science HL, and Cybersecurity.Before joining UNO full time, Nichole taught at Millard North High School, Fort Calhoun Community Schools, and Omaha Public Schools, where she helped expand computer science opportunities, coordinated dual-enrollment partnerships, and sponsored Computer Science Clubs that regularly excelled in programming competitions. She also served as a Canvas learning management system administrator and district trainer.Nichole contributes to the broader computer science education community as a College Board AP Reader and as a member of the Nebraska Department of Education’s Digital Design Standards writing team. She has completed training in both IB Computer Science and MYP Design, and has been recognized with awards including the AIM Tech Celebration K–12 Tech Educator and NCWIT Aspirations in Computing Educator Award.
Teaching Interests
My teaching interests include Computer Science and Cybersecurity, with a focus on undergraduate education. I am particularly interested in teaching entry-level and foundational courses that support students in developing strong technical skills while facilitating a smooth transition into college-level learning. I am passionate about helping students gain confidence, develop problem-solving abilities, and see the real-world applications of computing and security concepts as they begin their academic journey.
