Excellence in Research, Teaching and Service

Our faculty are internationally recognized scholars with strong commitment to teaching and mentoring students.

Faculty member's research is published in well-regarded and highly ranked economics journals, and several of our faculty have received UNO’s Award for Distinguished Research and Creative Activity and the CBA Dean’s Award for Research. One faculty is UNO’s first eminent scholar.

These accomplishments in scholarship are equally matched by the department’s commitment to teaching excellence, as evidenced by the numerous college- and university-level teaching awards won by department faculty.

We attract students from numerous countries. Thus, our alumni network spans the globe.

The department faculty also has strong ties with Omaha-area businesses and organizations, and they collaborate with researchers in the United States and abroad. One faculty’s blog is among the most popular in economics and another has a regular column in one of China’s top newspaper’s website. Our faculty members have also served as elected officers of economics societies.

Our department supports an award-winning Center for Economic Education that works with K-12 school districts in the region to improve the teaching of economics and personal finance.
