General Information

Biography

Lori Schwartz is Assistant Professor and Hagel and Technical Services Archivist at Criss Library's Archives and Special Collections where she manages the U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel Archives and directs arrangement and description for the department's non-book collections. Lori is co-PI for an NHPRC grant, Access to the Archives of the Great Plains Black History Museum, running 2024-2026. She has also been co-PI on several previous grants expanding access to archival collections.Prior to the start of her faculty role in 2021, Lori was the U.S. Senator Chuck Hagel Archivist for six years, managing processing, outreach and exhibits, and donor relations for the Hagel Archives. Prior to 2015, she was Special Projects Archivist and Associate Professor at the University of South Carolina Libraries' South Carolina Political Collections.

Research Interests

Lori's research output has centered around archival internships, processing and exhibit projects, teaching experience outside archival instruction, and grant projects.

Service Summary

Lori is a member of UNO's Faculty Senate and Executive Council and chairs the Student Affairs Committee. She serves on committees for two national professional organizations, the Association of Centers for the Study of Congress and the Society of American Archivists.
