About Mrs. Jae

Strengths: Adaptability, Ideation, Positivity, Woo, Arranger

As an Omaha native, Jennifer attended Benson High School, home of the Mighty Bunnies! She received the Goodrich Scholarship and obtained a B.S. in Social Work from UNO in 2007. It was warm, welcoming, and attentive interactions with the Goodrich and Multicultural Affairs staff that made UNO feel like a home away from home. They often became a space of development, support, encouragement, and positive correction. They blossomed a sense of belonging and mattering for a young African American woman on a predominantly white campus exploring her identity and recrafting her strength in this world.

Upon graduation, Jennifer began working in the social services field, which quickly transitioned into her using her knowledge and skills to support students in OPS through the 21st Century Learning Communities (CLC). Through networking and community advocacy, Jennifer accepted an opportunity at Creighton University as a Coordinator for the TRIO program - Classic Upward Bound. While at Creighton, Jennifer returned to the NU system to receive a Masters in Youth Development. Shortly after completing her Masters, Jennifer joined the Thompson Learning Community in February 2017 as an Advisor. She has served and supported Buffett Scholars as an instructor for University Seminar 1020 and 2020, developed social programming, designed curriculum, and now serves as the Assistant Director of Curriculum for TLC. For over 15 years, Jennifer has developed and inspired youth in numerous settings, but she has always been passionate about youth and academic development. She positively approaches life and situations with an “Optimistic plus a dash of Realism” attitude. In 2022, she completed a Masters in Social Work from UNO in preparation for the next transition in her life. Jennifer hopes to utilize her skills and demeanor to impact the lives of people through therapeutic practices in the future.

During family hours, Jennifer loves supporting her wife as a Culinary Artist, cheering on their adopted nephew as he plays soccer, or cuddling with the family fur-baby, Harley. She enjoys playing volleyball for Omaha's premier GLBT sports league, watching movies and TV shows, listening to audiobooks, and playing card/ board games. She serves meals to individuals that are experiencing housing insecurity with her church. She is a proud member of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc.
