Goal: Student Performance

The University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) is, above all else, a learning-centric institution where our number one focus is the success of our students. Our excellence and student focus guide the success of our future leaders in Nebraska and across the world.

But success does not happen overnight, and it does not happen alone. As a Carnegie Doctoral/Research and Community Engaged institution, UNO is committed to building the infrastructure needed so that we can better monitor, respond to, and strengthen the performance of all our learners regardless of degree program, family background, or future goals. UNO, and Omaha, is for everyone.

To achieve this goal, we have the following objectives:

Ensure every student can earn a degree: With a college education, UNO alumni can have increased social mobility and economic stability, closing the wealth gap.

Ensure those earning degrees can do so quickly: The fewer barriers a student and their families encounter during their higher education journey, the less debt they will take on and the less likely that debt will be the reason they cannot achieve their true potential.

Strengthen retention: In order to fulfill our promise as Nebraska’s metropolitan university, we must ensure that the students who come to us looking for an education are able to receive it. We will work to reduce barriers and be a champion for affordability and accessibility. We will develop engaging programs and wrap-around support systems so that even if a student stumbles, they do not fall.

Enhance our recruitment nationally and globally: UNO is one of the best places to learn, teach, and work. This is why we must strategically use our resources to recruit talented students, faculty, and staff locally and nationally so we can provide a deeper and more diverse Maverick community that will strengthen our city and state through brain gain while avoiding brain drain.
