Guidelines

1. Color

  • The Athletic Icon may only appear in three-color (black, white, and red)or two-color (black and white).
  • The Athletic Icon always has a white outline, which may not be visible on white and light backgrounds. Do not remove the Athletic Icon’s white outline or add an outline to the white outline.

2. Clearance Space and Size

  • The minimum clearance space for the Athletic Icon is defined as the height of Durango’s eye. No type or other graphical element should be placed within the bounding area around the icon.
  • The clearance space rule should be maintained as the logo is proportionately enlarged or reduced in size.
  • The Athletic Icon should not be reduced to any size smaller than 1” wide on printed communication pieces.

3. Usage

  • DO use the Athletic Icon on any communications materials, however, the University Logo and Campus Icon must still be present.
  • DO use only approved, unaltered versions of the Athletic Icon.
  • DO remember when scaling (enlarging or reducing) the Athletic Icon, to always make sure that the shift key is used to maintain the original proportion of the mark.
  • The Athletic Icon (the Maverick) and the Campus Icon (the O) are the only identifiers allowed to be used on items such as academic merchandise, podiums, banners, and flags.

Improper Uses of the Athletic Icon

  • DO NOT modify, redesign, redraw, animate, distort, or alter the proportions of the Athletic Icon.
  • DO NOT swap or alter colors or reverse incorrectly.
  • DO NOT add words, images, or other design elements or effects to the logo, or use the icon as a letter within a word.
  • DO NOT place the icon next to or lock it up with any mark.
  • DO NOT remove the white outline or attempt to recreate, add to, or modify the white outline in any way.
  • DO NOT use the Athletic Icon to represent academic entities including individual colleges, programs, or organizations.
